The Knife are a Swedish electronic/pop duo that started playing together back in 1999 although as siblings the pair has been playing together for much longer than that. Olof and Karin Dreijer are not just a pair of performing siblings however; they are also co-owners of their own record company titled Rabid Records making them quite a power couple on the Sweden music scene. However, while they may have been well known in Sweden it was not until Sony decided to use their song ‘Heartbeats’ covered by Jose Gonzales in a national commercial that people started paying attention.
After Sony broke the ice the band licensed a number of their songs to different television shows leading to a tour in 2006 and the release of their album Silent Shout, which received nothing but praise from the critics. Over the past few years the duo has won a nice set of Swedish Grammies although they refuse to actually be seen in attendance at any award function, which is a bit odd given that they will sell out to television commercials. Whatever their bit, they have managed to rake in quite a bit of fans which is all it takes to get the two Venetian mask wearing siblings a nice name for themselves.
